Puerto de La Estaca

El Hierro commercial and recreational port.

The Port of La Estaca is located in the southwest of the island, close to Valverde. Until 1972 it was the only port where building materials and fresh water could be unloaded, thus its instrumental role in the isle’s development. Though intended for the commercial and recreational transport of goods and passengers, its 250-meter berthing area is equipped with 120 moorings capable of harbouring recreational boats of up to 30 meters in length and 6.5 meters in draught. Services include: mobile ramp, 40-tons ‘travelift’, crane and dry dock.

Valverde’s nearest marina.

For user convenience, drinking water and electricity are provided to all berths. The harbour is situated just seven kilometres from Valverde and offers 22 moorings with a maximum draught of 8m/2’5m, as well as free parking for vehicles. La Estaca is the only port on the island capable of receiving passenger ships and has welcomed more than 10,000 visitors annually over the last decade, which should be borne in mind before accessing the harbour.
